“It feels good being able to continue to pursue my goals and do something to help my family out,” said McGee. “It’s been a long journey from coming in as a freshman and learning from the older guys to become one of those older guys and have players learn from me. Things like that taught me responsibility and how to be a better teammate.”
“It means a lot to be able to give back to the community like this because growing up we didn’t have places like this,” said ICC basketball player Ron Davis of Raymond.
“We are extremely proud of Tory and everything he has been able to accomplish in his two years here at ICC,” said MACJC Coach of the Year Grant Pate. “He has really grown into a great player, but more importantly he has become an outstanding individual away from the game of basketball. He knows and appreciations the value of a great education and really dedicated himself to the academic side of being a successful student-athlete.”
“Over the past two years Tory has really been a staple of our program,” said Coach Pate. “He is a true student-athlete and is really going to be missed. We’re excited for Tory and we’re excited for Mississippi College.”
24 high school and junior varsity games will be held in the Davis Event Center and the Fitness Center gym starting from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th.
“It feels great,” Anderson said about signing with UT-Martin. “A big part of me coming to ICC was to get back to the Division One level and it’s even more special because I get to go back to the conference I came from with a bigger chip on my shoulder and a point to prove.”

Sophomores Lytia Coleman (Memphis, TN) and Latoya Collins (Jackson) will represent the 2013 NJCAA Region 23 champion Lady Indians with Alex Anderson (Memphis, TN), Johnthan McGee (Jackson) and Tory Rice (Starkville) representing the 2014 MACJC Champion Indians in this year’s All-Star game.

Itawamba Community College sophomore point guard Alex Anderson was the top vote-getter for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men’s All-Region 23 team released on Monday.
Alex Anderson was a first-team selection and fellow sophomore Johnthan McGee earned second-team honors when the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) released its All-State teams on Monday.
In a back-and-forth battle, Lakee Westbrook (Shannon) hit a three from the wing to put the Indians (17-9) up 10 with just over two minutes left to play and held off multiple rallies by the Bulldogs (19-7) to hang on for the 8-point victory.
“We are blessed,” said Coach Grant Pate. “This group of guys bought into each other from the first day of practice and I couldn’t be more proud to see all their hard work and dedication be rewarded with a conference championship.”

The Davis Event Center will be the site for the 2014 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Basketball Tournament starting with the men's quarterfinals on Monday, February 24th and concluding on Thursday, February 27th with the championship games.

McGee averaged 16.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block per game and hit a buzzer-beating three at Mississippi Delta to help the Indians stay undefeated in division play with a 75-72 victory over the Trojans after picking up a hard-fought, emotional double overtime victory 107-103 over East Mississippi.
“Mississippi Delta is a tough place to play,” Pate. “They make you work extremely hard in all aspects of the game for the entire game and the fans are basically on the floor all night trying to get in your head. I was proud of how our guys responded to the challenge of winning a game like this on the road and hopefully it’s something we can continue to build on for the future.”
“Those type situations are just part of basketball,” said Coach Grant Pate. “It’s more about your mental strength than it is physical strength to be able to shake off something like that to find a way to win. I’m extremely proud of how the guys found a way to against an outstanding basketball team.”
“I felt like our guard play was the best we’ve had all season,” said ICC head coach Grant Pate. “They played unselfishly, did a great job of moving without the basketball to get good looking shots, and also played very smart knowing when to make the extra pass to get everyone else involved.”
Sophomore point guard Alex Anderson poured in a season-high 29 points as the ICC Indians topped the Northwest Rangers in overtime, 109-102, for a rare win in Senatobia.
The Indians (7-5, 2-0 MACJC North) trailed as much as 17 points in the second half before cutting the lead to three, 69-66, before the Wolves caught fire from beyond the arch to hold on for an 84-77 victory.
