PLANO, Texas – The Indians played in seven consolation bracket finals on the final day of the NJCAA National DI Tennis Tournament.
Players were forced to play multiple matches on Friday due to portion of the tournament being postponed due to rain on Thursday.
Consolation Singles Semifinals
Flight 2: Joan Mateu Ramis Pascual defeated Petar Wemmenhove (ABAC), walkover
Flight 3: Jack Semper defeated Fabian Juarez (Hinds), 8-5
Flight 4: Cade Teeple defeated Unai Llerena Perez (Harford), walkover
Flight 5: Knox Waterer defeated Luke Bruntlett (East Central), 8-2
Flight 6: Ben Orr defeated Aaron Gerald (Harford), walkover
Consolation Singles Finals
Flight 2: Arne Sohmer (Co-Lin) defeated Pascual, 8-3
Flight 3: Andre Dogbefu (USC Sumter) defeated Semper, 8-5
Flight 4: Sachin Vanaraja (Prairie State) defeated Teeple, 8-3
Flight 5: #4 Mateo Prado (Barton) defeated Waterer, 8-4
Flight 6: Macarthur Swain (Jacksonville) defeated Orr, 8-3
Consolation Doubles Semifinals
Flight 2: Semper, Waterer defeated Denzel Jones, Simon Ojeda (Meridian), walkover
Flight 3: Orr, Teeple defeated Briley Oakes, Colby Williamson (Hinds), 8-1
Consolation Doubles Finals
Flight 2: Santiago Castillo, Blake Robertson (Coastal Alabama) defeated Semper, Waterer, 8-5
Flight 3: Juan Amor, Brett Foster (Wallace) defeated Orr, Teeple, 9-7
The Indians finished with 15.5 points to finish 13th in 29-team tournament. It was the second-best finish for Mississippi-based programs playing in the tournament.
