After a timeout, Taylor brought the ball down the floor and the Bucs' defense did not leave an opening to lane. With the lane blocked off, Taylor pulled up and drained a three-pointer as time expired to give the Indians the upset win and end a four game skid.
In the first half, the nationally ranked Bucs (6-2) jumped out to an early lead, but the Indians rallied to hold a 29-26 advantage at the break.
Shelton State had a chance to take control of the game with under 30 seconds remaining but missed three consecutive free throws, setting up the thrilling finish.
Freshman Martaveous McKnight (Walls) paced the Indians with 14 points, followed by Barri Hill (Jasper, AL) and Taylor with 12 points each. Sophomore Howard Thomas (Brandon) added 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Marcus Anthony led the Bucs with 13 points.
The Indians will face a tough road test ton Thursday as they travel to Clarksdale for their MACJC North Division opener against Coahoma Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
