Lady Indians defeat East Central in division showdown

Lady Indians defeat East Central in division showdown

Fulton, Miss. – The Lady Indians jumped out to an early lead against East Central and were able to pick up a key division 3-1 win Friday and improve to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in division.

At the 11th minute, Emily Hayward (Oxford) scored the game's first goal and her fourth of the week. Ally Shinall (Oxford) assisted on the goal.

The 1-0 lead held until halftime, and four minutes into the second half, Brittany Mathis (Pontotoc) found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.

Lexi Loden (Saltillo) extended the lead to 3-0 at the 60th minute off an assist from Ashley Stevens (Amory).

East Central would get on the board at the 73rd minute, but the Lady Indians would hold on to pick up the win.

The Lady Indians will take on North Division foe Northwest Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Senatobia.
