Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College sophomore Fred Cleveland, Jr. signed to continue his basketball career at North Carolina Central University Tuesday.
The Chicago, Ill. native, who led the Indians in scoring last season averaging 17.5 points per game, scored 386 total points in 22 games.
Cleveland shot 48.2 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point land and 68.1 percent from the charity stripe.
The 5'10 guard grabbed 75 rebounds while picking up 136 assists and 55 steals and helped the Indians to a 10-12 record and an NJCAA Region 23 Tournament appearance.
Cleveland scored 20 plus points in six games, including his career-high against Co-Lin where he had a triple-double of 35 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
His standout season earned him second team all-conference honors.
Cleveland joins the North Carolina Central program that finished 16-15 last season and advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.
