FULTON, MS – Miscues on both ends of the floor proved costly in the ICC's fourth-straight loss as the Indians fell 77-69 to the unbeaten Shelton State Community College Bucs (9-0) on Monday.
Trailing by 12 with 1:04 left in the game, ICC pulled within five before Shelton State took care of business from the free throw line to thwart the Indians late-game heroics and gave the Bucs the 77-69 win.
"I thought we played a very competitive first half, but we had a letdown in the second half," said Coach Grant Pate. "It was a tight game and there were a couple of times where we could've gotten a rebound or a loose ball to swing things our way, but we couldn't take advantage of those opportunities."
Alex Anderson (Memphis, TN) scored a team-high 15 points with Johnthan McGee (Raymond) adding 14 and Lakee Westbrook (Shannon) 11 in the loss.
Albert Lynch led Shelton State with 17 points.
The Indians will look to rebound as they open MACJC North Division play on the road at Northeast Mississippi Community College (3-6, 0-0 MACJC North) on Thursday.
"We just got to get back to practice and keep working to get better," Pate commented. "Going on the road Thursday is going to be another tough test against a really good Northeast team in front of a packed house."
The game can be heard on WAFM 95.7 FM (Amory) and www.fm95radio.com starting at 5:10 with the Davis Ford Pre-Game Show.
