The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) released their All-Conference teams Wednesday with 13 Itawamba Community College football players receiving honors.

Orel Gray (Jacksonville, Fla.) has earned Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Defensive Player of the Week honors after his performance in the Indians’ 17-0 shutout victory over rival Northeast.

The Indians went on the road Thursday and beat Northeast Mississippi Community College, 17-0, in MACCC North Division play.

The highly-anticipated game between No. 14 Itawamba Community College and No. 6 Holmes Community College lived up to the all the hype, but a questionable call in the final seconds of the game will cast an unfortunate shadow on the 27-24 Bulldog victory.

Fans that waded through the remnants of Hurricane Francine couldn’t ask for much more from the Indians’ defense on Thursday night. ICC (2-1) forced eight turnovers, six fumbled and two interceptions, but the offense sputtered in the second half in a disappointing, 20-9, home loss to East Central (2-1).

It’s been said it’s not how you start but how you finish, and that was the case for freshman kicker Eli Barciaga (Corinth) in Itawamba Community College’s 10-7 road win over the Hinds Community College Eagles.
