Members of the Itawamba Community College football and men’s basketball team took time out of their summer to help give back to the community by volunteering with April’s Angels to help build their handicap playground at Itawamba Attendance Center on Monday.
“It felt good,” said Armstrong. “I’ve been waiting to have a break out game and show the [Sabercat] fans what I was capable of doing and to help the team get a win over our rivals was extra sweet. The defense played amazing and we just wanted to be able to keep them going by putting points on the board on the offensive side of the ball.”
“Academics is the number one thing we stress in our program,” said Coach Sean Cannon. “Success on the football field starts with success in the classroom. If you have the discipline and the desire that it takes to be good students then those same traits will carry over to workouts, practice and in games.”
Cannon, 39, a native of Calhoun City, succeeds Jon Williams as the 11th head coach in ICC history after spending the last four seasons as the program’s defensive coordinator and assistant head coach.

Itawamba Community College President Mike Eaton has announced Sean Cannon has been named interim head football coach for the Indians. Cannon has been a member of the ICC coaching staff for the last four years as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

In only one season as a defensive back and receiver for Coach Jeff Terrill and the Indians, Lofton had five receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown while returning two kicks for a touchdown and leading the team with two interceptions to go along with five tackles.

Former Indian Demarius Howard (Calhoun City) wasn’t known by many entering the University of Southern Mississippi spring game, but the Bennie Abram LEGACY Award winner open many eyes with his break out performance on Saturday.
