FULTON, MS – Tobias Lofton (Forest) and Griff Loftis (Mooreville) have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, made of players from teams from NAIA, Canadian, and two-year schools.

Lofton, a sophomore running back, is a Pre-Med major with a 3.51 GPA. The Bennie Abram L.E.G.A.C.Y Award recipient rushed for a team-leading 613 yards and 2 touchdowns on 144 carries

"I'm proud to have been selected for this honor," said Lofton. "Our coaches remind us every day how taking care of business in the classroom will transition to how we take care of things on the football. I'm proud to be able to represent ICC and my family through this award."

Loftis, a sophomore quarterback, is currently maintaining a 3.60 GPA as a Secondary Education major. He led the team in passing with 2,256 yards on 173-of-301 passing with 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

"It's a great honor," said Loftis. "Our coaches stress academics just as much as they do the athletic side of things. I'm really blessed to be part of a program that cares about not only preparing you to be your best on the field, but also be your best away from the game of football."

The Indians finished the season 6-4, 4-2 MACJC North and qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

With their selection to the All-District Team, Loftis and Loftin are eligible for the Capital One Academic All-American teams, which is scheduled to be announced later this month.

The duo is among the first ICC student-athletes to earn the All-District honors.

"We are extremely proud for Griff and Tobias to be honor with this great award," said Coach Jon Williams. "Not only is this an honor for these guys and our football program, but it's also an honor for the Student Success Center, our Writing Center, and all the teachers that go the extra mile to help make sure all students have the opportunity of getting the best education possible here at ICC."

The 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Football teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and academically.
