Lady Indians drop home opener to East Central, 9-0

Lady Indians drop home opener to East Central, 9-0

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians dropped their second-straight match and home opener in a 9-0 loss to East Central Community College on Friday.

Madison Mayhall (Corinth) and Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) dropped a hard-fought 8-6 decision to Alex Tindall and Caylee Grace Yarborough in No. 2 doubles play.

Julia Johnston and Sara Mazzella knocked off Georgia Claire Campbell (Pontotoc) and Claire Ferguson (Mantee) 8-3 in No. 3 doubles before Tatiana Quinonez and Madison Crapps picked up an 8-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) fell to Gabriela Gomez 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play.

Quinonez topped Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles while No. 4 singles entry Yarborough knocked off Caroline Ferguson 6-3, 6-1. Claire Ferguson dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Bethany Wellerman 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles action and Campbell lost 6-0, 6-4 to Johnston in No. 6 singles.

Mayhall dropped a hard-fought third set 13-11 to Tindall in No. 3 singles play. Mayhall rebounded to win the second set, 6-2, after dropping the opening set 6-3.
