
No. 21 Lady Indians blank No. 23 MS Gulf Coast

PERKINSTON, MS – The nationally ranked Itawamba Community College Lady Indians wrapped up the regular season with a 9-0 win over No. 23 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Saturday.
The Lady Indians (9-0) dominated eight of the nine head-to-head battles winning all three doubles matches by four games or more and winning by an average of 3.3 games in five of the six singles showdowns.
In the closest match of the day, the Lady Indians prevailed victorious as Andria Barnes (Mooreville) picked up a 6-4; 3-6 (4).
Madison Scott (Mooreville) finished with the largest margin of victory defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, the Lady Indians picked up three big wins that set the tone for the day. Anna Claire Griffin (Iuka) and Ivy Robbins (Pontotoc) picked up the first win of the day with an 8-2 win followed by another 8-2 win by Barnes and Scott. Taylor Patterson (Munford, TN) and Aliesha Hudson (Yazoo City) finished the doubles sweep over the Lady Bulldogs with their 8-4 win.
The 9-0 road win allowed the Lady Indians to finish the regular season undefeated.
The Lady Indians will continue their chase for a championship starting Thursday as they compete in the MACJC and NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Rob Leake City Park in Tupelo.
