
Fulton, MS – Madison Copeland's first goal of the season was a big one as it helped lift the Lady Indians (6-3, 2-1 MACCC) to a 2-1 conference win over Gulf Coast (2-4-2, 0-2-2 MACCC) on Tuesday.
Copeland (Tupelo) sent home a header off a corner kick from Beth Lloyd (England) in the 61st minute.
Addison Pletzke (Clinton) scored the first goal of the day in the fifth minute off an assist from Lloyd. Gulf Coast answered 12 minutes later to send the match into the break at a 1-1 tie.
Lloyd has a team-leading seven assists on the season.
Inna Vannula (Finland) had a pair of saves and allowed one goal in 90 minutes in net. The Lady Indians filled up the net all match long, but an impressive 15 saves by the Gulf Coast keeper kept the match in check.
Up next for the Lady Indians is a road trip to Meridian (1-5, 0-3 MACCC) on Friday.
