Thompson named new assistant softball coach

FULTON, MS – Coach Andy Kirk announced the hiring of Lindsey Thompson as the new Assistant Coach for the nationally-ranked Indians.
Thompson was a volunteer coach for the Indians last season. ICC finished 39-10 on the year and ranked No. 10 in the final National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) poll.
A former catcher for the University of North Alabama, Thompson played for head coach Jeremy Reece. While at UNA, she was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference (GSC) selection and was chosen as the team MVP in 2002.
In 2001, Thompson earned NJCAA All-American, NJCAA All-Region and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State honors as a member of the Northeast Mississippi Community College softball program. She was also voted as team captain and earned team MVP honors.

She was a member of the 1999 State Championship team at Mooreville High School. She was selected as a member of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal All-Area team and participated in the Mississippi All-Star game.
Thompson earned her bachelor's degree in Fitness Management from the University of North Alabama.
