
Brown, Hollenhead named NFCA All-Americans

FULTON, MS – Freshmen Alex Brown and Mamie Hollenhead were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) when they were selected as 2016 All-Americans, as announced Friday by the NFCA office.
Brown (Pontotoc) was named a First Team All-American, while Hollenhead (Mathiston) earned Second Team All-American recognition. The freshman duo become the fifth and sixth players to earn All-American honors in ICC softball history.
The two All-Americans this year marks the first time ICC has had multiple All-American selections.

Brown finished the season with a .438 batting average, 45 RBI, 16 doubles, six home runs and two triples while only striking out four times in 128 at-bats. She led the team with a .734 slugging percentage and .545 on-base percentage while holding a .985 fielding percentage playing second base and catcher.
Hollenhead batted a team-best .475 while driving in a team-high 57 runs in her inaugural season with the Indians. She led the team with 77 hits, 17 doubles and seven home runs while finishing the year with a .710 slugging percentage and .438 on-base percentage. The third baseman had a .941 fielding percentage on 188 total chances.

Both received Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State, National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region, NFCA All-South Region First Team and MACJC Player of the Week honors.
Kory Watterson (Nesbit) was selected as the Indians' first NFCA All-American in 2014. CeCee Austin (Randolph), Kimmy Nicholson (Nettleton) and Jessi Patterson (Nettleton) were selected as NJCAA All-Americans.
