
Softball rolls Northwest in Game 1, 7-1

FULTON, MS - No. 10 ICC (20-4, 5-2 MACJC) rolled to a 7-1 victory over No. 19 Northwest Mississippi Community College (11-3, 5-2 MACJC) at the ICC Softball Complex on Wednesday.
Kaitlin Bradley (Columbus) got the Indians' offense rolling with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Former Ranger Bree Thompson (Water Valley) doubled off the wall to score Mamie Hollenhead (Mathiston), who reached on a two-out single, to give ICC a 3-0 lead after three innings of play.
The Indians put the game away with a four-run fourth inning.
Mary Kansas Sullivan (Houston) smashed a one-out double to the gap and was replaced on the bases by courtesy runner Taylor Thornton (Carrollton), who scored on a two-out single by Lane Kennedy (Smithville) to give the Indians a 4-0 lead.
Alex Brown (Pontotoc) kept the two-out rally rolling with a double to score Kennedy. Brown would score on a throwing error by the Rangers before Bradley reached on a single and scored on a double by Hollenhead.
Five of the Indians' seven runs came with two outs in the third and fourth innings.
Northwest scored its lone run in the top of the sixth inning before Cassidy Hardy (Gordo, AL) entered in the seventh inning to closed the door on the Rangers.
McDuffy (9-1) gave up one earned run on three hits and two hit batters while striking out two batters in six innings of work.
Bradley led the Indians at the plate with a three-for-four performance with two RBI and a run scored. Hollenhead also went three-for-four with a double, RBI and run scored. Kennedy and Sullivan both had a pair of hits in the win.
Five of the Indians' 13 hits went for extra bases.
