JACKSON, TN –The Itawamba Community College softball program wrapped up the regular season Wednesday on the road for a doubleheader with Jackson State Community College.
The Lady Indians (31-11, 16-5 MACJC North), who earned their fourth consecutive division title earlier this week, got off to a slow start in game one but rallied for five runs in the sixth to pick up the 5-0 victory.
Laken Shankle (Bruce), Haley Moore (Booneville) and Courtney Roberts (Hatley) started the sixth inning rally and Arriann Henry (Ecru) drove in the game's first run to give the Lady Indians the lead. Freshman Kaitlin Bradley (New Hope) quickly added to the lead, driving in two runs.
The Lady Indians plated two additional runs on Lady Generals mistakes to take the 5-0 lead. Five runs were more than enough for sophomore pitcher Hannah Johnson (Branson, MO) as she threw a complete game two-hit shutout to improve to 15-4.
Shankle finished 3-for-4 and Roberts was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple.
