Softball places three on MACJC All-State team

FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College head softball coach Andy Kirk announced sophomore pitcher Rebecca Sloan (Oneonta, AL), freshman pitcher Montana Hawkins (Sulligent, AL) and freshman first baseman Emilee Henderson (Burnsville) were named to the 2013 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State team.
Sloan, who was also named MACJC North Division Best Pitcher, finished the season 15-6 with a 2.00 ERA with a single-season record of 109 strikeouts, 13 complete games, one shutout and save in 126 innings pitched while posting a .992 fielding percentage.
Hawkins, who was also named to the North Division honorable mention list, finished her first season at ICC with a 12-6 record with a 2.71 ERA with 53 strikeouts, four complete games, and two shutouts in 103.1 innings of work to go along with her team-best 1.000 fielding percentage.
Henderson, who was named to the MACJC North Division Second Team, finished the season leading the team in batting average (.374), on-base percentage (.412) and slugging percentage (.569) while scoring 25 runs and driving in 28 runs on 46 hits with eight doubles, a team-best two triples and four home runs. She also stole four bases and had a .963 fielding percentage.
The Lady Indians (31-15-1; 18-6 MACJC North) won their second-straight MACJC North Division title to advance to the MACJC State Tournament as one of the top two seeds for the sixth-straight season and make the program's fourth NJCAA Region 23 tournament appearance.
