
RAYMOND, Miss. – The No. 20 Indians dropped a 7-2 shocker to No. 24 Hinds Community College on Saturday.
The Eagles set the tone early with a pair of doubles wins. David Garcia-Perez (Madrid, Spain) and Edson Marchant (Haleyville, Ala.) dropped an 8-4 decision to Carlos Trujillo and Mateo Garcia in No. 1 doubles. Ezra Blissard (Houston) and Michael Crotts (New Albany) fell 8-5 to Eric Holmes and Jamal Holmes-Griffin in No. 2 doubles play.
In No. 3 doubles, Blake Gregory (Pontotoc) and Roberto Valadez (New Albany) earned the first point of the day for the Indians with an 8-4 win over Drew Rexrode and Bryce Livingston.
Crotts picked up the only singles win of the day with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Livingston in No. 5 play.
Garcia-Perez dropped a 7-6 (10), 6-4 decision to No. 37 Trujillo in No. 1 singles action. Blissard fell 6-1, 6-2 to Garcia in No. 2 doubles. In No. 3 singles, Valadez lost 6-1, 6-1 to Eric Holmes with Marchant falling 6-0, 6-4 to Rexrode in No. 4 singles. Gregory was defeated 6-3, 7-6 (5) in No. 6 singles action.
ICC will look to rebound against #23 Wallace-Hanceville in non-conference action on Tuesday.
