
Indians earn Top 15 finish in NJCAA National Tennis Tournament

The MACJC and NJCAA Region 23 Champion ICC men's tennis team finished 15th in the 2014 NJCAA Men's DI National Tennis Tournament at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas.
The Indians' No. 1 doubles duo of Nathan Pinkney (Southaven) and Austin McElwain (Corinth) advanced to the championship match of the consolation bracket before falling to the overall fifth seeded Warren Kuhn and Garrett Mandrell of Vincennes College (IN).
Pinkey advanced to the No. 1 singles championship bracket's Round of 16 before falling to the overall second seeded Tim Srkala of ASA College (NY) while Austin McElwain was eliminated from the No. 2 singles championship bracket by the overall eighth seeded Romar Hernandez of Marion Military Institute (AL).
Joseph Summers (Amory) fell to Brian Gebben of Lewis & Clark College (IL) 8-4 in the semifinals of the No. 5 singles consolation bracket and teamed up with Caleb Ballard (Shannon) to advance to the semifinals of the No. 3 doubles consolation bracket before losing 8-2 to eventual champion Aramix Azucey and Alex Cleriher of Seminole College (OK).
Drew Ballard (Tupelo) advanced to the second round of the No. 6 singles consolation bracket before being eliminated by Christian Jackson of Meridian Community College.
Cody Coins (Millington, TN) and David McElwain (West Point) loss in the semifinals of the No. 2 doubles consolation bracket 8-4 to Daniel Apacible and Gil Lim of Jacksonville College (TX).
Coins fell to the overall second seeded Jose De Sario in the No. 4 singles championship Round of 16 and David McElwain advance to the No. 3 championship bracket's Round of 16 before being eliminated by Alex Brown of Seminole.
NJCAA tennis powerhouse ASA College took home this season's national title.
The Indians earned the highest finish amongst MACJC programs in the tournament with Jones County Junior College finishing 20th and Meridian earning the 21st spot.
