FULTON, MS – The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) announced its weekly soccer awards on Tuesday and freshman Keaton Halbert was selected as Keeper of the Week for his performance last week for the Indians.
Halbert made 10 saves on 10 shots on goal in 160 minutes in net to help the Indians go 2-1 last week. He had one save in 25 minutes in the Indians' 3-0 road win at Bethel University and followed that up with four saves in the first half of ICC's 2-0 loss to Gulf Coast.
The Tupelo native pitched a shutout against the three-defending MACJC and NJCAA Region 23 champion Pearl River on Sunday to hand the Wildcats their first loss of the season on Sunday.
Halbert is eligible for NJCAA National Keeper of the Week honors.
The Indians (4-4-1, 1-3-1 MACJC North) will be joined by the Lady Indians as they travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College on Friday for a pair of non-division matches.
