
FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore linebacker Jaiyden Thompson (Okolona) has been selected National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Football Defensive Player of the Week, the NJCAA announced on Wednesday.
During the Indians' 36-34 win at East Mississippi last Thursday, Thompson played a key role on defense, racking up a career-high 18 tackles (11 solo and seven assisted) while also recording a sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup.
Thompson currently leads the Indians with 34 total tackles on the season, which ranks third in the MACCC and tied for ninth in the NJCAA. He was also named MACCC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Thursday.
Thompson and his teammates will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 26, when they host Mississippi Delta. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the pregame show will start at 6:30 p.m. on SuperTalk 101.9 FM and LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
