FULTON, MS - Freshman running back Octavious Matthews (Stevenson, AL) rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries and caught two passes for 84 yards and two more touchdowns in Itawamba Community College's 49-7 Homecoming victory over Coahoma Community College on Saturday.

Kadarius Forside (West Point) added two rushing touchdowns for the Indians (3-3, 2-2 MACJC North), who piled up 555 yards (339 passing; 216 rushing) of total offense.

Kwadra Griggs (Greenwood) finished 23-of-32 for 289 yards and three touchdowns in two-and-a-half quarters of play before being replaced by freshman Rip Kirk (Batesville), who threw for 50 yards on 4-of-6 passing.

Forside scored on a 2-yard run on first drive of the game and Matthews hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Griggs to give the Indians' a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter before Forside powered his way into the end zone on a 1-yard run to take a 21-0 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

Forside rushed for 10 yards on five touches.

Coahoma converted a fumble into a 5-yard touchdown run by Jacardius Griffin to cut the Indains' lead to 21-7 but Griggs answered on the ensuing drive on a 4-yard strike between a pair of defenders to Grant Kimberlin (Southaven) to take a 28-0 lead into the break.

Kimberlin had seven catches for 68 yards.

ICC hung 21 points on the board in the first six minutes of the third quarter when Matthews scored on a 65-yard run and a 44-yard pass reception before Artez Williams (Greenwood) recovered a fumble in the endzone to put the Indians up 49-7.

With the mercy rule in effect, the Indians drove inside the 1-yard line with 1 minute, 32 seconds left in the game but opted to take a knee and allow the clock to run out on the 42-point victory.

Zach Ellis (Tupelo) was 7-for-7 on extra point attempts.

Defensively, the Indians held the Tigers (0-6, 0-4 MACJC North) to 151 yards of offense and had nine tackles for loss with five sacks on the afternoon.

Quinn Tiggs (Tupelo) and Cartin McBride (Calhoun City) had 6 tackles (5 solo; 1 assit) each with Ladarius Gallion (West Point) recording two sacks in the win.

The Indians will have a short week to prepare for the rivals Tigers of Northeast Mississippi Community College (1-5, 1-3 MACJC North). The Tigers' late-game rally came up short last week in their 28-20 Homecoming loss to Mississippi Delta Community College (2-3, 2-2 MACJC North).

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 Thursday in Booneville. The Davis Ford Pregame show will start at 6:10 on FM 95 Sports and LetsGoICCTV.com.
