FULTON, MS – The ICC football team will participate in a NFL Leadership Program on Saturday, April 18.

"We are excited about hosting this prestigious event," said ICC head football coach Sean Cannon. "Anytime the NFL chooses to come to your campus to host an event, it's a big deal not only for our football program, but also for the entire college."

The NFL Leadership Program is designed to provide athletes with a better understanding of what it means to be leaders on and off the field by focusing on the importance of developing core values through character development, academic excellence, competition, and community service.

The NFL will host its Leadership Program for high school students in conjunction with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins.

ICC will be the only community college in the nation to host the event and it will be the only program offered beyond the high school level.

"We are exctied to be chosen to participate in [the NFL's] Leadership Program," said Cannon. "I know our players are pumped up about this program and what they have planned for us."

NFL Regional Directors Matt Reamer and Ty Kosa will be part of the program while Chris Draft will be the featured guest speaker.

The former Stanford Cardinal was drafted in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears before making stops with the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Washington Redskins throughout his career.

Draft was named the 2006 NFL Alumni "Spirit Award" Man of the Year while earning the 2002 Ed Block Courage Award and 2001 Rankin Smith Award.

He is active with the Boys and Girls Club, Project Fit America, Prison Ministries of Atlanta, and the American Lung Association while hosting his own television show "The Draft Report" in the Atlanta Metro area.

Since 2010, the NFL has partnered with ICC to host their highly-successful summer High School Player Development camp.

"The Player Development camp has been a huge success over the years and a lot of that credit goes to Coach Dennis Grubbs," said Cannon. "I have to give him the credit and a thank you for all his help in setting up this event for our football team."
