A trio of Indians have climbed their way into national rankings for their individual performances this season. Richard McQuarley (Meridian), Jeb Millender (Pontotoc) and Cartin McBride (Calhoun City) are all in the top 3 of different NJCAA categories.
McQuarley is currently third nationally for total yards this season with 1,001. He is only 66-yards behind the nation's leader. With 161-carries this season, McQuarley is first in the nation. Last week, he rushed for 258-yards in the Indians 38-19 win over Northeast where he averaged 11.7 yards per carry and had 3 touchdowns. McQuarley is averaging 143-yards per game this season which puts him at sixth in the nation in that category.
Millender has been called on to punt 47 times this season and he has been clutch for the Indians. In his 47, he has punted the ball 1,915-yards which puts him third in the nation. The two punters ahead of him and two of the three below have had more punt attempts this season. The most impressive stat for Millender is how many times he has pinned the opposing team inside their own 20 yard line. After pinning Northeast inside their own 20 twice last week, Millender now have 18 punts inside the 20 which is first in the nation. He led the nation in punts inside the 20 with 26 as a freshman.
The Indians have taken advantage of some key kick blocks this season and McBride has been leading the way on most of them. McBride has 4 blocks which puts him second in the nation. He has block one in each of the Indians last two games, including a blocked punt against Coahoma that he scooped up and return 18-yards for a touchdown. McBride isn't the only Indians getting blocks as Naquez Pringle (Georgetown, SC) has 2, which puts him in a 14-way tie for third in the nation.
The Indians (3-4, 3-2) travel to Moorhead for a North Division battle with Mississippi Delta. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and can be heard on WAFM 95.7 FM (Amory) and LetsGoICC.com with the Davis Ford Pregame Show starting at 1:40 p.m.
