FULTON, Miss. – The Indians earned the split with No. 12 Northwest at Roy Cresap Field on Wednesday.
Game 1: Indians 6, No. 12 Northwest 4
The Indians rallied in the sixth to take game one over No. 12 Northwest, 6-4.
The Rangers stuck first, plating a pair of runs in the opening frame. ICC answered when Jaxin Settlemires hit an RBI single to score Dre McCray.
Northwest got a run back in the top of the third with a solo home run to make it 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Jude Treadaway scored on an error to make it a one-run contest.
In the bottom of the sixth, Dre McCray hit a three-run home run to put the Indians in front followed by a solo home run from Jaxin Settlemires, ensuring the game one win.
McCray and Settlemires both finished with two hits each while Ben Davis, Jarrett Morris, Hayden Roberts and Treadaway each added one. McCray led the Indians with three RBI.
Matt Bourdon was the winning pitcher for the Indians, surrendering three runs on eight hits while striking out four.
Game 2: No. 12 Northwest 5, Indians 4
The Indians' comeback attempt fell just short when they dropped game two against No. 12 Northwest, 5-4.
Down 4-0, the Indians got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after singles by Hayden Roberts and Jude Treadaway that scored Jaxin Settlemires and Jarrett Morris.
After the Rangers added a run in the top of the seventh to go up 5-2, ICC came out in the bottom half of the inning with two runs scored by Ben Davis and Dre McCray, each on passed balls, but the Indians' comeback efforts came up just short.
Morris went three-for-three at the plate while Roberts went two-for-two.
Ty Wicker was the pitcher of record for the Indians, giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out five batters.
The Indians will be back at Roy Cresap Field on Saturday when they host No. 13 Jones in the regular season finale.
