
Indians fall 10-9 to Delta in extra innings

FULTON, MS – After winning a shootout in game one, the Itawamba Community College baseball team fell 10-9 in extra innings Mississippi Delta Community College Tuesday.
The Indians (27-11, 14-8 MACJC) trailed 8-0 heading into the bottom of the second, but the tribe rallied to score nine unanswered in the next three frames to take a 9-8 lead after four complete.
During their nine run rally, Tyreque Reed (Houlka) hit a moon shot home run while Keith Stepter (Hernando) hit two bombs.
In the top of the fifth, the Trojans tie the contest and after two scoreless frames the game headed into extra innings.
The Trojans were able to score the game winning run in the top of the eighth to pick up the 10-9 win.
Reed finished the game going 2-for-5 with three RBI and Stepter went 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Russ Payne (Fulton) played a big role in the Indians nine run rally as he went 3-for-4 with and RBI and Ben Seay (Moorevile) added an RBI in his 2-for-3 performance.
The Indians will host Co-Lin Saturday for a MACJC doubleheader at 2 p.m.
