FULTON, MS – Sophomore pitcher TJ Watson (Dallas, GA) shutdown Mississippi Delta Community College for eight innings to lead Itawamba Community College to a 2-1 victory in game one on Wednesday.
The Indians (15-10, 9-8 MACJC) didn't make Watson's job on the hill easy, but he was able to pick up his fourth win with his seven strikeout performance.
Timothy Rowe (Hernando) and Tanner Poole (Amory) provided the Indians and early lead as they both hit solo homeruns in the first inning.
The Indians held the 2-0 lead until the final frame, when the Trojans loaded the bases with one out. Brady Chambley (Winona) and John Peugh (Mooreville) finished off the Trojans picking up one strikeout each to secure the game one victory.
Watson improves to 4-5 this season and Chambley earned his first save of the year.
