In 2001, Mike Eaton was inducted into the National Junior
College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Hall of Fame selected
by the Football Coaches Association.
His Indians posted a 111-64-7 record during his tenure as head
football coach at ICC from 1974-92. The Indians were North Division
champions eight times and played in four bowl games while Eaton was
head coach. They won state championships in 1975, 1977 and
1990.
Eaton has coached more than 20 professional players including
Ernest Dye, Tim Bowens and Joe Horn.
A native of Ripley, Eaton, who is currently administrative
assistant to the President, has served as assistant football coach,
head football coach, health instructor, director of Student
Activities, athletic director, assistant dean of Students, dean of
Students and vice president of Student Services. He coached at
Ripley High School in 1973.
