Moorhead, Miss. – Itawamba Community College picked up its first North Division win of the season Thursday night with a 34-21 win over Mississippi Delta Community College.
The Indians (2-4, 1-2 MACCC North) got a big performance from sophomore linebacker Corley Hooper (Ecru) who rushed for three touchdowns on offense and had an interception on the defensive side of the ball.
Hooper's first score came on a two-yard run with just under 10 minutes to play in the second quarter, and his second came on another two-yard run after his interception in the final seconds of the first half.
The Indians used three different quarterbacks, including Hooper, and freshman Tylan Carter (Ackerman) scored his first touchdown of the season in his first action of the season on a one-yard run in the first quarter.
Hooper carried ball four times for 18 yards off of direct snaps and lead the Indians defensively with 9 tackles.
Freshman quarterback Hunter Jones (Amory) got his first start of the year and completed 14 passes for 148 yards.
Leading 14-0 at halftime, the Indians scored 20 points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 34-6, but the Trojans rallied in the fourth quarter to cut into the lead. However, the Indians were able to hold on to pick up the 34-21 victory.
