FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College football players Griff Loftis (Mooreville) and Tobias Lofton (Forest) earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Academic All-State honors when the league announced their postseason awards last week.
"Academics is the number one thing we stress in our program," said Coach Sean Cannon. "Success on the football field starts with success in the classroom. If you have the discipline and the desire that it takes to be good students then those same traits will carry over to workouts, practice and in games."
Loftis finished his sophomore season with a 3.58 GPA while Lofton had a 3.55 GPA in his final season with the Indians.
"We are extremely proud of Griff and Tobias," said Cannon. "They were perfect examples of what a student-athlete should be in the classroom and on the field."
The duo was also selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team in December and were nominated for Capital One All-American status amongst football players from the NAIA, Canadian and two-year level.
Lofton, a running back, was selected as the 2014 Bennie Abram L.E.G.A.C.Y Award recipient and signed with Nichols State while Loftis recently signed to continue his football career at Faulkner University.
