Lady Indians fall to Motlow State, 65-61

FULTON, MS – A strong finish helped lead nationally-ranked Motlow State (TN) Community College to a 65-61 victory over the Lady Indians to close out the 2016 half of the season on Saturday.
No. 24 Motlow snuck out to an 18-17 lead and was able to keep pace with the Lady Indians in the second quarter to take a 30-29 advantage at the break. ICC took a 47-46 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bucks went 6 of 7 from the charity stripe down the stretch to hang on for the victory.
Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) led the Lady Indians with 16 points. Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc) had 12 points and five steals while Constance Dunn (Fulton) added 11 points in the loss.
Kienya Jones paced Motlow with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Off the Boards
Motlow State more than doubled the Lady Indians in the rebounding department with 39 of their 47 total rebounds coming on the defensive side of the floor to limit the Lady Indians' second chance opportunities.
Dishing It Out
Sophomore Aaliyaha Thornton (Hernando) had a team-high seven assists on the night. She has had five or more assists in her last four games, including a season-high eight assists in the Lady Indians' 73-61 road victory at Holmes.
Return in January
The Lady Indians will return to the hardwood on January 10 when they travel to Lynchburg, TN to face Motlow State.
