FULTON, MS – Success at Itawamba Community College has led to high expectation for the Lady Indians.
Three National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Championships in the last four years and back-to-back NJCAA Women's National Tournament appearances, have placed the Lady Indians amongst the nation's elite in women's basketball.
The Lady Indians return seven players from last year's squad that finished 23-7 on the season.
Jabria Pounds (Nettleton), Aaliyaha Thornton (Hernando), Zaida Cox (Ripley), Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc), Asia Partlow (Tupelo), Grace Elliot (New Site), and Sarah Garvin (Hamilton) will look to build on experience gained from last season to continue the Lady Indians' winning ways and help bring the new faces on the roster up to speed on the collegiate level of play.
True freshmen Lauren Fitch (Decatur, AL), Taneshia Miller (Greenville), Constance Dunn (Fulton), Eryka Williams (Starkville), and Kirmesha Oliver (Olive Branch) along with redshirt freshmen Jaleigh Polk (Tupelo), Marqueesha Hoskins (Tupelo), and Coahoma Community College transfer Briana McMillain (Tupelo) will look to contribute right away this season.
The Lady Indians will open their season with six of their first seven games on the road. ICC will travel to Wallace Community College-Selma (Nov. 1) and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Nov. 3) before hosting Shelton State Community College (Nov. 14) for its home opener.
