Hooker signs with Philander Smith College

FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College women's basketball program has announced that sophomore Ricki Hooker (Olive Branch) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her career at Philander Smith College.
"It's an honor," said Hooker. "My coaches here have really prepared me for the next level."
Hooker averaged 3.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists per game off the bench in 24 contest last season. She battled midseason injuries, but returned during the postseason to help the Lady Indians win the MACJC North Division and NJCAA Region 23 titles.
"Ricki is a great point guard," said ICC women's basketball Head Coach Nanci Gray. "She's a finesse player and can handle the ball really well. She will bring a lot of positive energy to the floor at Philander Smith and make sure the people around her are working hard."
The 5'2" guard picked up 1.8 steals per game as well and including three in the NJCAA Region 23 title game to earn the Lady Indians a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament in Kansas. Hooker strives to be successful on and off the court and is working toward a career in the medical field.
"She is one of those top academic students," said Gray. "She's going to study hard off the court and we are excited for her to continue her academic career as well as her basketball career."
Philander Smith College is a NAIA school located in Arkadelphia, AR and competes in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Panthers finished 18-10 overall and 7-7 in conference player last season.
