Lady Indians win final home game over East Mississippi

FULTON, Miss – The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians wrapped up their final home game with a 67-62 win over East Mississippi Thursday night.
The MACJC North Division champions didn't have their best shooting performance of the season with 39 percent from the field, but they were able to lead by as much as 20 points in their final home stand of the season. Sophomore guard Jayla Chills (Ripley) led the Lady Indians (19-3, 10-1) to a 46-29 lead at the break with 16 first-half points.
In the second half, the Lady Indians saw their lead shrink as the Lady Lions began to make things interesting. In the final minutes, the Lady Lions pulled within four, but the Lady Indians were able to hold off the charge to pick up the victory and finish unbeaten in division play inside the friendly confndes of the Davis Event Center.
Alontra Tucker (Lamar) scored a team-high 19 points, followed by Chills with 18, and Treasure Evans (Horn Lake) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Lady Indians will wrap up the 2014-15 regular season Monday night on the road as they travel to Moorhead to battle the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
