BOAZ, AL – Jayla Chills (Ripley) scored a game-high 19 while Lytia Coleman (Memphis, TN) recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the Lady Indians' 63-48 victory over the Lady Parsons.
"Snead State is a very good team and caused a lot of problems for us on both sides of the floor," said Coach Nanci Gray. "This was a good win with this being our first road game of the season."
Snead State (0-3) cut the Lady Indians' (2-0, 0-0 MACJC North) lead to 57-48 with 2:49 left to play, but ICC finished closed the door on the Lady Parsons' rally with a jumper by Lanikki McMillian (Pontotoc) and back-to-back baskets by Kaelin Kneeland (Center Hill) and Chills.
"We got in a little foul trouble late in the game that gave them some momentum, but the girls found a way to buckle down defensively to pull off the win," said Gray.
Michelle Swopes and Monica Cooper led Snead State with 9 points each.
ICC will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Shelton State Community College on Tuesday.
The Lady Buccaneers (2-1) opened the season ranked No. 9 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) preseason poll.
