Springfield named NJCAA All-American

FULTON, Miss. - Bailie Springfield (Mantee) added another accolade to cap her outstanding sophomore season when she earned a spot on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII Softball All-American team on Wednesday.

Springfield was named to the Second Team as a pitcher and was one of only four players from Mississippi to earn All-American honors.

The Southern Miss signee earned the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Pitcher of the Year award after winning a program-best 20 games and finishing the season with a sparkling 1.54 ERA. She struck out 123 batters, had seven shutouts and threw one no-hitter in 150.1 innings.

Offensively, the East Webster graduate hit .296 with 21 RBI and 35 runs scored. She had 40 hits with team-highs in doubles (11) and triples (3) to go along with a pair of home runs while only striking out five times in 135 at-bats. Springfield finishes her lone season in Fulton with a .342 on-base percentage and .467 slugging percentage. Defensively, she had a .974 fielding percentage with only three errors and six double plays in 177 chances as a pitcher, shortstop and third baseman.

Last week, Springfield was named Second Team All-American by Fastpitch News. Her other honors include: NJCAA All-Region 23, National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region South, NFCA Second-Team All-American and MACJC First Team All-State.
