Golf finishes sixth in EMCC Invitational

COLUMBUS, MS – The ICC golf team finished tied for sixth in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) sixth event of the season hosted by East Mississippi Community College at Lion Hills in Columbus.
Kirk Reeder (Tupelo) finished tied for 22nd overall after carding a 157 (+13) for the tournament. On Saturday, the sophomore turned in a 79 (+7) and fired a 78 (+6) on the final round.
Andrew McDonald (Fulton) opened the tournament with an 82 (+10) before rebounding to close the two-day event with a final round 76 (+4) on Sunday. The Blue Mountain College signee finished tied for 25th at 158 (+14).
Brandon Walker (Vardaman) finished 30th in the tournament after recording an opening round 79 (+7) and 80 (+8) for a total of 159 (+15). Todd Harrell (Vardaman) had his best outing of the season after carding a 77 (+5) on Saturday before turning in an 83 (+11) on Sunday. The freshman finished at 31st with a two-day total of 160 (+16). Nick Brown (Mooreville) finished tied for 36th at 163 (+19) with Mark Tipton (Hamilton) finished 50th at 175 (+31) and James Dale (Hernando) closing out the tournament tied at 51st with a 185 (+41)
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the event with a team score of 292 (+4). Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Meridian Community College tied for second at 295 (+7) with Northwest Mississippi Community College finishing fourth with a 313 (+25) final score. Host East Mississippi Community College totaled a 314 (+26) while the Indians finished two strokes shy of its first top five finish of the season at 316 (+28). East Central Community College, Hinds Community College, and Northeast Mississippi Community College rounded out the final three spots in the tournament.
The Indians will participate in the MACJC State Tournament at Wolf Hollow in Wesson, MS on Sunday, April 9 and Monday, April 10. Co-Lin will be the host of this year's championship event.
