Indians 7th after Day 1 of Hinds Fall Invitational

RAYMOND – Sophomore Jacob Dixon (Baldwyn) got off to hot start in the opening round of the Hinds Fall Invitational at Eagle Ridge Golf Club on Saturday.
Dixon carded an opening-round 72 (E) to close the day in a tie for 5th place with East Central's Andrew Joiner.
Kirk Reeder (Tupelo) finished in a five-way tie at 26th with a 78 (+6) while Andrew McDonald (Fulton) entered the clubhouse tied at 43rd with an 83 (+11). Ty Young (Fulton) carded an 85 (+13) to take sole possession of 48th with Nicholas Brown (Mooreville) finishing the first day of play tied at 51st with an 89 (+17).
The Indians finished the opening round of the tournament in seventh place at 318 (+30) as a team.
Dixon and the Indians will look for a strong second round play to make a surge towards a top five finish in the first event of the season.
