RAYMOND, MS – The Itawamba Community College golf team finished in eight place with a 686 team-total in the Hinds Community College Invitational at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond.
"We got some better scores from our top players, but still need a better all-around effort from the guys to be competitive," said ICC head coach David Rather. "With that said, there were still a lot of positives we can take with us from this tournament."
Matt Belk carded an opening-day 78 and followed with a 79 on the second day of the tournament to finish in a four-way tie for 16th.
"Matt played two solid rounds of golf," said Rather. "He stayed composed and didn't let some of the things that got to him in the first tournament get to him as bad this go around."
Dustin Poole finished alone at 38th at 166 (84-82) while Sam Warren finished T45 at 175 (84-91) with Tyler Rosenthal carded a 176 (90-86) to finish 48th and Aaron Carter finished 50th at 178 (90-88).
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the event at 590 with Drew Seals taking home medalist honors (71-73-144).
