FULTON, MS – In their first home game in almost a month, the Itawamba Community College men's basketball team put on a show for the home crowd led by the duo of Charles Brown (New Orleans, LA) and Brian Halums (Hollandale) who scored 20 plus point each in the 82-60 win over Wallace State Community College-Selma (AL) on Wednesday.
The Indians (4-4, 1-0 MACJC North) carried the momentum of their division win over Holmes two days earlier into the game and controlled the first half from the tipoff, leading to a 43-28 lead at halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half with almost every Indian who touched the floor finding the bottom of the net, allowing the Indians to cruise to the 22-point win.
Brown was the Indians leading scoring with 21 points, but Halums was right on his heels with 20 points of his own.
Unselfish
With 10 different players scoring for the Indians, it was easy to see that players were working as one and they picked up 23 assists in the game. Sophomore guard Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) set the example and led the charge with season-high 11 assists.
Controlling The Boards
The Indians crashed the boards on defense and finished the night with 35 total rebounds, 30 of which came on the defensive side of the floor.
Wrapping Up 2016
On Saturday, the Indians will wrap up the 2016 section of the schedule when they host Motlow State Community College (TN) at the Davis Event Center at 4:00 pm. ICC Athletic Director Carrie Ball-Williamson has announced that the contest will have free admission as part of Fan Appreciation Day.
