Indians come up short in overtime to Shelton State

TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Itawamba Community College men's basketball team and Shelton State Community College needed overtime to decide their battle Monday night, but the visiting Indians came up just short in the overtime period, falling 80-74.
It was tight battle between two evenly matched teams right from tipoff, and the Indians (1-4) won the first half battle as they held a 32-30 lead at the break.
The second half was just as close as the first with both squads trading baskets, but the Bucs managed to tie the contest late and force overtime.
In the overtime, period, the Indians came up just short as the Bucs outscored them 12-6 to pick up the win.
Sophomore guard Charles Brown (New Orleans, LA) led the Indians with 18 points, followed by Brian Halums (Hollandale) who picked up his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) added 10 points and fell just short of a double-double with seven assists.
Take It Away
The Indians were able to pick up points in transition thanks to eight steals and 26 defensive rebounds during the contest.
Free Throws
The Indians were almost perfect from the charity stripe, making 24 of their 27 attempts. Two Indians were flawless from the line as Taylor went 6-6 and Halums 7-7.
On The Road Again
The Indians will continue to be road warriors Thursday as they travel to West Memphis, AR to face Arkansas State University's Mid-South Community College at 7:30 p.m.
