FULTON, MS – The ICC men's basketball team narrowly missed making the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) tournament last season, but will look to amend that in 2016-17.
Sophomores Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) and Martaveous McKnight (Walls) are only two starters returning from a squad that went 13-10 last year, the Indians will look to get a young roster experience early on in the season.
The Indians' roster will be comprised of seven true freshmen and two redshirt freshman.
True freshmen Brian Halums (Hollandale), Marcus Thomas (Pine Bluff, AR), Jawon Smith (Saltillo), EJ Fuller (Tupelo), Eric Brown (Greenville), Jason Smith (Saltillo), and Tre Jenkins (Tupelo) will have to adjust quickly to collegiate level of play early on in the season.
Redshirt freshmen Reggie Miller (Saltillo) and former Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Player of the Year Marcus Carouthers (Aberdeen), who redshirted at Holmes last season, will be expected to step into key roles early for the Indians.
Sophomore Tommy McCoy (Woodville) will see an increased role on the squad from his first season in Fulton and take on a large leadership role in helping the new faces on the team get adjusted to the collegiate level of play.
ICC added Murray State transfer Charles Brown III (New Orleans, LA). The 6'7 215-pound forward saw action in the late 13 games of the season for the Racers after a highly-decorated career at St. Augustine High School in Louisiana.
The Indians will open their season with six of their first seven games on the road. ICC will travel to Wallace Community College-Selma (Nov. 1) and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Nov. 3) before hosting Shelton State Community College (Nov. 14) for its home opener.
