Indians rally to defeat Jones County, 78-71

FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College men's basketball program began the second half of the season with a come from behind 78-71 victory over Jones County Junior College Tuesday night.
The Indians (6-5, 1-1 MACJC North) trailed by as much as 12 points in the contest but cut the Bobcats lead to five, 32-27, by halftime.
After the break, Carter Sweat (Piperton, TN) and Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) led a comeback to put the Indians up by as many as seven points as the freshmen duo combined for 30 points in the second half.
A late three-pointer by the Bobcats (6-3, 1-1 MACJC South) cut the lead down to three, 74-71 with under 20 seconds remaining, but the Indians hit four free throws to pick up the 78-71 win.
Taylor led the Indians with a game-high 26 points, followed by Sweat with 14. Barry Hill (Jasper, AL) added 13 points inside the paint and Frank Anthony (Clarksdale) chipped in with 10 points.
Ricky Holden paced the Bobcats with a 17 point performance.
The Indians will travel to Boaz, AL Thursday for a non-conference showdown with Snead State Community College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
