FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College men's basketball team suffered their first MACJC North Division loss Tuesday night, falling to Northwest Community College, 79-67.
It was a back and forth battle early in the contest as the Indians (5-5, 1-1 MACJC North) and Rangers exchanged baskets and saw the lead exchange hands 12 times. The Rangers (9-2, 2-0 MACJC North) grabbed the lead late in the first half and held a 41-37 advantage at the break.
The Indians saw the Rangers extend their lead to as much as 16 in the second half, but they rallied to pull within eight, 70-62, with just under three minutes to play. However, the rally would come up just short as the Rangers held on to pick up the 79-67 road win.
Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) led the Indians with 20 points and Barri Hill (Jasper, AL) followed with 19.
Seth Leday paced the Rangers with 24 points.
The Indians will wrap up the first half of the season Thursday when they host Meridian Community College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
