Free throws haunt Indians in road loss to Meridian

MERIDIAN, MS - The Itawamba Community College Indians dropped their fourth straight loss of the season after falling at Meridian Community College, 76-69, on Thursday.
Martaveous McKnight (Walls) scored 10 points in the first half to help the Indians (3-4) sneak into the break with a 32-30 edge over the Eagles (2-2).
The two teams flip flopped the lead in the second half until center Ken'Darrius Hamilton knocked down a three pointer as the shot clock expired to give the Eagles a 57-50 advantage with 7 minutes, 50 seconds left in the game.
McKnight hit back-to-back threes to cut the Eagles' lead to 67-62 with 1:31 left in the game but Meridian took care of business from the free throw line to hang on for the victory.
Meridian connected on 26-of-35 from the charity stripe. ICC hit 18 of 34 attempts on the night.
McKnight paced the Indians with 29 points while Quenten Taylor (Edison, GA) added 15 and Harvey Smart (Gulfport) chipped in 13 in the loss.
Four different players scored in double figures for the Eagles.
The Indians will return to Fulton against nationally-ranked Shelton State (AL) Community College on November 30.
