BIRMINGHAM, AL – In the second meeting of the season, the Itawamba Community College Indians were unable to pull off a comeback win and fell 76-61 to Lawson State Community College Saturday.
The Indians (3-2) opened the season with three straight wins, but their first two road test haven't had the ball bounce in their favor as they fell Thursday to Jones County Junior College despite a big comeback. On Saturday, the Indians found themselves down and needing another comeback as they trailed 35-27 at halftime.
In the second half, the Indians trailed by as much as 22 points, but a 10-0 run helped pull them in striking distance late. However the big deficit was too much to overcome, giving the indians their second loss in as many games.
Martaveous McKnight (Walls) led the Indians with a game-high 20 points as he shot 7-15 from the floor.
Arthur Johnson paced the Cougars with 19 points followed by Contae Coleman with 12.
The Indians survived will face another road test on Monday as they travel to Tuscaloosa, AL to take on Shelton State Community College. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
