Rumble the River updates

FULTON, MS - Fans from across Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee were treating to a great day of basketball in the first-ever Rumble on the River hosted by the ICC men's basketball team on Saturday.
Carbon Hill (AL) 49 Itawamba AHS 46
In the first game of the day, Carbon Hill took their first lead of the game, 47-46, on a lay-up by Chandler Gann with 45.7 left to play before holding on for a 49-46 win over Itawamba AHS. Game scored a game-high 15 points while Stevie Simerly added 11 for the Bulldogs. Andrew McDonald paced the Indians with 14 in the loss.

Dora (AL) 64 Saltillo 60
Dora's Kelan Bell made a pair of free throws with 6.4 second left to secure the Bulldogs' 64-60 victory over Saltillo. The Tigers cut a double-digit deficit to two before an offensive rebound and put back by Alex Russell gave Dora a two-possession lead. Bell finished with 20 while Tyreke Bell added 17 for the Bulldogs. Reggie Miller and Jason Smith had 17 each and Jawson Smith chipped in 11 for Saltillo.

Shannon 56 Minor (AL) 48
Shannon notched the first win of the day for the Magnolia State with a 56-48 victory over Minor. Rocquis Coleman scored 8 of his game-high 23 in the final four minutes to rally the Red Raiders. Coleman gave Shannon their first lead, 44-42, with a jumper at the 4:01 mark of the final frame before taking care of business from the free throw line to pull away for the 8-point win. CJ Brim added 10 to Coleman's 23-point effort. Cameron Carter paced Minor with 15 on the afternoon.

Pontotoc 83 Cordova (AL) 75
Pontotoc scored 23-unanswered points en route to an 83-75 win over Cordova. Jabrin Pegeus paced the Warriors with 20 while Mississippi State baseball signee Delvin Zinn added 19 and Jacquez Townsend chipped in 17 points in the win. Cordova's Treyvon Chatman scored 27 of his game-high 29 in the second half while Iassac Chatman added 10 for the Blue Devils.

Covington (TN) 81 Baldwyn 74 - OT
Covington's Reginald Holmes hit back-to-back threes in the final 23 seconds of the game to send their game against Baldwyn into overtime before handing the Bearcats their first loss of the season 81-74. Jalen Claybon scored a game-high 30 for the Chargers with Malcolm Taylor adding 18 to go along with Holmes' 12 and Bobby Shanks' 10. Conner McKay led four Bearcats scoring in double figures with 24 points with Coby Agnew chipping in 13, Duke Upshaw 12, and Felix Hayes 10.

Pearl 83 Sumter Central (TN) 52
Pearl used a 31-point third quarter to pull away for an 83-52 win over Sumter Central after trailing 24-23 at the break. DJ Mitchell scored a game-high 21 while Cameron Walker and Chris Copper scored 14 each with Malik McNair adding 12 for the Pirates. Ladarius Steele paced the Jaguars with 19. Sumter Central head coach Jazmin Mitchell played at ICC for Marty Cooper from 1998 to 2000.

Aberdeen 48 Midfield (AL) 44
Aberdeen's Queshod Young and Marcus Carouthers scored 13 points each to help rally the Bulldogs to a 48-44 victory after trailing Midfield by double digits in the first half. Aberdeen made six-of-eight from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to hold off a late-game rally by the Patriots. Jermaine Turner led Midfield with 13 and Thomas Sims added 10.

Tupelo 81 Melrose (TN) 53
Tupelo jumped out to a 25-8 first-quarter lead over Melrose and never looked back as they cruised to an 81-53 win in the final game of the Rumble of the River. Antonio Green led the Golden Wave with 22 and Joseph Jones added 11 while Marquis Robinson paced the Wildcats with 17 and Parrish Hewitt had 16 in the loss.
