BOAZ, AL – The Indians hit the road for the first time this season and got a bitter taste of home cooking in a 60-56 loss at Snead State on Monday night.
The Indians took a 52-50 lead on a tip-in by Austin Timms (Mooreville) with 5:55 left to play, but Snead answered with their ninth three pointer of the night by Duke Thomas to retake the lead by one on the next possession.
The Parsons knocked down another three and took an immediate timeout with 2:01 left on the clock. When the game restarted the clocked showed 1:48 left to play, but the pleas of the ICC coaching staff feel on dead ears and Snead held on for a 60-56 win.
"It's part of the game," said Pate. "We had plenty of chances down the stretch, but we couldn't get stops defensively and couldn't get any shots to fall on the offensive side of the floor."
ICC went 1-for-8 from the floor in the final six minutes of the game.
"We're still trying to find our identity as a team," Pate said. "One of the keys right now is being able to dig deep and find a way to win these tyoe of close games because every game is going to be a battle this season."
Timms led the Indians with 12 points and 6 rebounds while Howard Thomas (Brandon) and Tyrone Wooten (Memphis, TN) each added 9 points in the loss.
"Hopefully the guys will be able to turn this loss into a positive by learning from tonight and rebound with a win against Meridian on Thursday," said Pate.
