Fulton, Miss. – Conference foes Itawamba Community College and Northwest Mississippi Community College squared off in a non-conference showdown Tuesday, with the Indians dropping an 5-4 decision in eight innings.
The Indians (7-3) jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage on a RBI single by Will Verdung (Corinth) and two-run scoring hit up the middle by Gray Bane (Olive Branch).
In the top of the third, the Indians gave away a pair of run on passed balls with runners at third, but held a 4-2 lead after Bane scored on a sacrifice fly by Jaxin Settlemires (Kossuth)in the fourth.
The Rangers tied the game, 4-4, on a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh, and pushed across the game winner in the top of the eighth on a pair of singles.
After Northwest and Northeast play their non-conference game in Fulton, the Indians and Tigers will go head-to-head in the final game of the non-conference triple header.
