FULTON, Miss. – After Coahoma battled from a six run deficit, the Indians manufactured a run in the fifth to pick up the win and the series sweep over the Tigers.
The Indians (25-9, 11-7) trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but scored eight unanswered runs over the first four frames to take an 8-2 lead.
However, the Tigers rallied for six runs in the top of the fifth to tie the contest at eight all.
Drake Wallace(Amory), who went 2-for-2, proved to be the hero for the Indians offensively as he hit a RBI double in the bottom half of the fifth to give the tribe an one run lead, 9-8.
Kyle Crigger(Corinth) took over on the hill in the fifth and was able to hold Coahoma to only two hits in two and two thirds innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 3-1 this season.
Hunter Nabors(Montevallo, Ala.), LaBryant Siddell(Belden) and Crigger hit home runs in the early innings to give the Indians their six run lead. Siddell added a triple in the game as he went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.
The sweep keeps the Indians in the postseason race and they will return to Roy Cresap Field Saturday to face the nationally ranked East Central Warriors on Sophomore Day.
